Snoop Dogg gives insight into new album

Date: 03/08/2006

Snoop Dogg has gone into more detail over his new album, suggesting fans will get more than they might expect.

It seems the star is looking to take his musical talents in new directions and has revealed that this latest offering will be more than just the gangsta rap that has made him a huge hit all over the world. Speaking to AllHipHop.com, Snoop Dogg said his album would offer a different take on life and his own lifestyle.

Entitled The Blue Carpet Treatment, even the name of Snoop Dogg's new album is aimed at giving a new perspective on the usual 'red carpet' treatment given to celebrities from all walks of life.

"Everybody's so used to getting the red carpet treatment. I said I'm gonna give you the blue carpet treatment," he explained.

And it seems that this latest album is particularly close to the rapper's heart. "You know what it is. It's one of them records that I've really been dying to put out, something that's really me from top to bottom all the way, you understand."

As such, fans can expect to find some different beats on this newest offering, with a much more personal tone from Snoop Dogg. He is confident that the album will provide a deeper perspective on a wide range of issues for his fans, giving them an insight into his deepest and most private thoughts.

Snoop Dogg added that this album is about being "a little older, wiser", and having a better understanding of the "direction on where I'm going".

Among the numerous artists who have lined up to record collaborations on Snoop Dogg's album, which is due out in October this year, are Young Jeezy, R Kelly and even the legendary Stevie Wonder. Production of The Blue Carpet Treatment has also seen a number of the top names in the business getting involved, including Timbaland, Supafly and Snoop Dogg's long-time friend, Dr Dre.

Last month, Snoop told Billboard magazine that he was still fine-tuning the album and, having been working on it for nine months in the studio, was confident that he had a lot of "good material". He added that it was a case of working out what to keep in the final album and what to leave out, a task he is likely to continue working on until it is released in October.
