| It was a battle between two of rocks biggest names as Chris Martin from Coldplay squared off against Bono from U2. But it wasn't a rock and roll bust up, or even a race to the top of the charts that the two band legends were involved in. The world famous stars were bidding against each other in a charity auction for a lunchbox designed by REM singer Michael Stipe. The auction of over 100 designer lunchboxes saw Bono's fellow band member The Edge land a lunchbox designed by Bill Clinton for approximately £6,000. But that total was made to look miniscule as the Coldplay-U2 bidding war saw Chris Martin stump up a huge £11,000 for the REM lunchbox. All proceeds from the event went to Food Bank in New York City and the Lunchbox Fund, hunger relief organisations in the US. Other stars in attendance included Shrek funny man Mike Myers and model Naomi Campbell.
