No more Jam on Weller's toast

Date: 29/11/2005

Paul Weller, the 'Modfather', has announced that he will not be reforming mod rock band The Jam.

Following rumours and murmurings that the band may get back together at some point, Weller quickly dashed the hype in an interview with Uncut magazine.

"Nah that would never happen. Why would I want to go back? For nostalgic reasons? That's never good enough," the rocker told the publication.

"My philosophy is to embrace the new day and get on with it. If html" class="inlineLnk">The Jam reformed now it'd just be a sad cabaret and that's not what I'm about at all."

The Jam had a series of successful singles including Going Underground, That's Entertainment and Town Called Malice that stretched from the late 1970s into the 1980s.

Paul Weller has also had a successful career as a solo artist in the 1990s and into the 21st century, with memorable songs such as Wild Wood and You Do Something To Me.
