Rumours are blazing that former Sugababes star Mutya Buena is about to sign a solo deal.

Ms Mutya claimed that she was leaving the chart topping girl group because the work load was too exhausting and she wanted to spend more time with her daughter.

Obviously motherhood is not making too many demands on her time, however, as sources close to the singer insist that she is about to launch her solo career.

"Mutya is going solo," a "friend" told the Mirror. "She's in talks with Island Records, who look after the Sugababes, to sort out a deal. Then it will be all go. She's so excited."

On more homely topics, Mutya says that for the moment organising a party for daughter Tahlia is all the excitement she needs.

"I've been so busy. I'm organising my daughter's christening and there's so much to do," she said.
