Madonna has announced that she will be taking to the stage with the world's first virtual pop group, the Gorillaz, at the Grammy Awards next week.

The 2D band has received four Grammy nominations. Madge has previously won five. Sir Paul McCartney will also be performing at the awards for the first time.

The Gorillaz will attempt to get around the fact that they don't exist by using an animated 3D visual backdrop. It is not known what song will be used for the duet.

Coldplay, Jamie Foxx and Christina Aguilera have also been confirmed for the award show.

Kanye West, Mariah Carey and John Legend will be leading the field, with eight nominations each.
