Hip Hop goes south

Date: 04/08/2006

A number of the world's biggest hip hop artists are collaborating on a new record, according to reports.

It has been revealed that some of the best talent from the south of the US has agreed top come together to show off their skills on one album. It could be the most sensational record to hit the shelves, with the likes of T.I., Young Jeezy, Little Wayne and Juvenile all having signed up to contribute.

The music will be a celebration of the culture and heritage of the Dirty South, with some of the biggest acts to hail from the region contributing to it. The record will also see a number of collaborations between the artists, bringing together some of hip hop's greatest names to record groundbreaking tracks.

Among the collaborations will be a track by Sonny Spoon which will feature Young Jeezy. While the latter is currently spending time behind bars for a drug trafficking charge, the song was recorded before this incident and is set to be one of the most powerful tracks on the album.

Double platinum artist Young Jeezy also appears in the video which has already been produced for the track and fans are now eagerly anticipating the release date.

The 20-track album, entitled Best of the South, is one of the most exciting creations to come out of the hip hop world in years, by bringing together a variety of different artists. The record will include not only the big names such as Young Jeezy and T.I. but will also provide a platform for new up-and-coming artists to forge a name for themselves.

It is hoped that the album will provide a showcase for some of the less well-known acts coming out of the south and give them an opportunity to be heard by a wider audience. At the same time, it looks like there'll be enough of a presence from the big names to make this collaborative effort a huge hit with most hip hop fans.

Young Jeezy and T.I. will be joining the other stars on a promotional tour during August and September, when they will cover a large part of the south and the midwest of the US, giving fans in the area an unmissable opportunity to see the big names in one place at the same time.

The concept behind Best of the South is reminiscent of Dreddy Kruger's efforts last year to bring in different artists on one record. That attempt resulted in the Think Differently Presents: Wu-Tang Meets Indie Culture album, although never before have so many huge hip hop stars come together to work with relatively unknown artists.
