Girls like ringtones more than guys

Date: 27/10/2005

New research has shown that ringtones are more popular with girls than with guys.

The survey, carried out by xingtone, found that on average girls between ten and 14 downloaded six ringtones a month.

In comparison, boys in the ten to 14 age bracket downloaded just two ringtones a month, the research of 1,000 people between the age of ten and 25 found.

85 per cent of girls said that they downloaded ringtones regularly, whilst only 60 per cent of boys could say the same.

With an ever increasing amount of ringtones available from the latest hit singles to the sound of sheep bleating along to poetry, there seems to be a sound around to suit everyone's mobile phone.

The popularity of Crazy Frog has seen ringtones of the hopping little amphibian spiral into a huge phenomenon, spawning CDs and chart hits, demonstrating the popularity of livening up your phone with a new jingle.
