American rapper 50 Cent has been discussing his upcoming movie debut, saying it will help people understand the man behind the rap.

Speaking to MTV Base, the G-Unit founder gave a small description of what fans can expect to see when they go to see Get Rich or Die Tryin', the movie with the same name as 50's debut album.

"It's loosely based on my life story," said the 26 year old rapper, born Curtis Jackson.

"I'm excited and proud of the entire project because it's an opportunity for me to broaden my base."

He added: "The more information [people] have about my past the more they’ll understand about the moves and things I do in the future."

50 Cent seems to be in the news a lot recently, just last week confessing that he would be looking to woo Sugababe Heidi when he's next in the UK.

He also claimed that he was the hardest working rapper around following the shooting of his movie and recording of the soundtrack simultaneously.

The movie is set to be released in the US at the beginning of November.
