| Foxy one-time opera-singer Charlotte Church, now more famous for her outreach work dating the congenitally orange, is to spread her wings in TV land. The Welsh valley's finest first proved her presenting skills fronting Have I Got News For You at the tender age of 17. Director of television at Channel 4 Kevin Lygo said that Church is currently working on a pilot for a "yoof" orientated chat show. "Charlotte is still only 20 years old, but she has a connection to the public that few people have," he said at the launch of the channel's spring line-up. "How fantastic if we could create this show around a woman rather than a male comedian. It would be wonderful to have her doing a fun show on Friday nights." The show, should it reach our screens, will be a mix of comedy and celebrity banter said Kev. The outlook doesn't look so great, however, with two recent forays into the chat show format by human baby-machine Davina McCall and posh telly cook Nigella Lawson being universally damned by critics and ignored by the public. |
