| Two Brit bands are the top nominees for this years' MTV Europe Music Awards. With five nominations each, Coldplay and Gorillaz are set to battle it out in the Best UK and Ireland Act, Best Group and Best Song categories, where Chris Martin's men's Speed of Sound will take on the animated group's Demon Days. Coldplay are previous winners of the Best UK and Ireland Act, whereas Gorillaz scooped Best Song in 2001. MTV has said there will also be live music: "Performing live at the awards will be a fantastic line of superstars which will include Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Robbie Williams and the Black Eyed Peas," The night's other top nominees include Gwen Stefani with four nominations, and U2 and 50 Cent each scooping three. Ali-G creator Sacha Baron Cohen will present the ceremony, which takes place on November 3rd in Portugal.
