The Arctic Monkeys album Whatever People Say I Am I Am Not has become the fastest selling UK debut ever.

The LP went straight to the top of the charts on the back of internet-generated pre-release excitement, with 363,735 sales topping Hearsay's previous record of 306,631.

The Monkey's single The Sun Goes Down was knocked off the spot by Notorious B.I.Arctic Monkeys break recordsG, P Diddy and Nelly's Nasty Girl however, which overtook the previous number one.

Previous Monkey's single I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor remains in the top 40, rising one place to 22 this week.

Elsewhere, Boys Will Be Boys by the Ordinary Boys entered the top ten at number nine on the back of frontman Preston's Celeb Big Brother appearance.
