Christina Aguilera has promised fans of her personal style, technically described as the aspirational blind street-walker look, that she will not be ageing gracefully.

She swears that her chaps will still be going strong when she is old enough to claim a free bus pass.

"I'll whip them out when I'm 60 and hopefully I'll be able to get those suckers on," she told Elle magazine.

Chaps, for those who don't know, are the bottomless trousers generally worn my fishermen when standing in rivers, by cowboys while out on the range, or in Chrissie's case while filming the video for Dirrty.

She also criticised more recent additions to the world of pop who have not yet become bored by the highlife.

"I'm on a different schedule to the new girls. I hide out for a year in my studio," she said.

"I'm not naming names, but it's more about the party scene with some of those girls than doing anything creative."
